NCDEQ Creates Secretary's Environmental Justice and Equity Board
On May 2, 2018, The NC Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) hosted a ceremony in Green Square to introduce members of the Secretary's Environmental Justice and Equity Advisory Board.
The Board will work with DEQ Secretary Michael Regan to ensure fair treatment and meaningful involvement of North Carolinians no matter their race, religion or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies.
Secretary Regan tasked the Environmental Justice and Equity Board to represent the underrepresented in the protection of human health and the environment. In his twitter feed, the Secretary stated, "Today, I proudly launched the NCDEQ Secretary’s Environmental Justice & Equity Advisory Board, helping to provide science-based environmental stewardship for the health and prosperity of ALL North Carolinians."
