NCDEQ Seeks Public Input on Community Mapping Tool

The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is planning three public meetings across the state to invite comments on the design of a new community mapping tool that the department will use in making environmental permitting decisions. The tool will add a new geographic information layer for online access designed to increase local public participation in support of DEQ's community engagement efforts. The department's news release indicates that this tool will highlight the work North Carolinians are doing to address environmental justice statewide.

The first two meetings have been scheduled in eastern and central locations. A third meeting is being planned for the western region of state.

The first stakeholder meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 4, 2019 from 6 - 8 pm at:
